This is a busy time for most students in school. Many assignments are due and tests are being given. Often if the assignment is turned in after the due date, or the tests are taken late, the student will lose 10 or 15 points off of the grade they would have earned if the assignment or test was taken on time.
Practice some of the time management skills discussed in this blog to help get things done in a timely manner.
Perhaps the best tip is to not procrastinate. I gave an assignment to students on August 25 that was due on October 21. Some students are turning this assignment in late even though they have had two months to complete it. Two month seems like such a long time to have to complete an assignment, however, you never know when you might get sick, have kids who get sick, have a death in the family, etc. Do not put off completing things that you know you are responsible for even though you think you have plenty of time.
Strive to always have things done a week early. Put the item on your calendar for the date that is a week ahead. That can keep you from losing lots of points over your school career.

I agree. In the past, too often I have waiting until the last minute to do assignments or to even study for a test. I feel like I learn more if I do things ahead of time. This semester, I have made an effort to do things ahead of time and it shows in my grades and the way my classmates look at me.

I understand that sometimes it is hard to get started on an assignment when you have so much time to complete it. What I like to do is give myself deadlines for different parts of the assignment so I'm not overwhelmed right before the assignment is due.
